TT 3.2? 335i? 545i? Any of those sound good? I find it hard to recommend a 7-8 year old car

Default 335i is nice but doesn't save $. Warranty on the S8 would take care of problems..

and looking at the car, its got a great V8, spacious interior, great seats etc. looks like a good bang for the buck, these things are going for a steal of a price for the car you are getting. and the car has character unlike any of the ones you listed.

Big time 2nd. You have to have at least one manual in the family.

Default I may get a B6 A4 after this and put a medium size turbo on it...

You can pick up a CPO one for next to nothing (not that you need CPO on those cars), they are cheap as hell to work on even if you blow the motor, they can be as fast as the S4 if not much faster, they are lighter, the steering is not servotronic and, take my word for it (and Jet Jockeys's) but it is worlds better than ours, and it can get 25mpg or better on the freeway. Just thought id toss it in there.

Default You forgot to add a few words after "it's worlds better than ours"...

", modded to $hit."

And still, to each his own. You want a race car, there are too many other cars out there that would do much better at the job.

You want a fast luxo cruiser with a roar? The S4 is the way to go.

Default And each one I've had as a loaner felt cheap by comparison...

I don't know if it's that the S4 has more sound deadening or what, but my car is quieter and the seat materials feel better. A4 brakes are weak and the suspension is soft. Now, as you said, if its modded with suspension, brakes and big turbo... then I can see some comparison.

Default No, no not the whole car...the steering...

the non servotronic in the A4 lineup is absolutely worlds better than the S4. Wasnt meaning that a stock A4 is better than a stock S4, just the steering.

Default Just talking about the steering as being worlds better...

Not sure what feels cheaper other than the A4 is signficantly lighter than the S4 which can make if feel less "substantial" but is also the reason it can get through the slolom faster and the lane change course faster on the OEM A4 sport suspension. But yeah, you cant compare the acceleration or the seats stock for stock at all. I agree. Not to mention the fantastic exhaust note of the S4.

The A4 is a different car, but just pointing out that if the goal was to save some cash, you can put about $3 grand into a $12000 same MY one and have save yourself gas money, save on after warranty maintenance and repair costs, and have a car that handles as well and is as fast. You will lose out on the seats and the fantastic exhaust note but it sounded like he was wanting to save some cash.
