Default So my gf drove home with her rear tires at near 10 psi...and now there's plenty of wooshing going on

What do you guys think happened? Are the tires definetely out of round?, because there's a definete whaa whaa whaa noise happening past 60mph....

Default As easy as taking them to a tire shop, having them dismounted and inspected.

Ofcourse, you should NOT drive the car there. There could be some sidewall damage. Better safe than sorry.

Default Jack up the rear and spin the wheel (or take a wheel off)....

If you hear something rolling around inside the tire (like it is full of pebbles), it is trashed. This could account for what you are feeling. When one drives on a tire that low in pressure, the sidewall destroys itself from the inside. If you remove the tire from the wheel, you will see lots of shredded rubber from the sidewall. Whether or not 10psi is low enough to do this, I don't know. I'm sure it depends on tire construction, sidewall strength, and car weight.

the tire loses 8psi a day....this is rel bad.

Default Speaking of tire pressure everyone in northern climates check it up...

I did this morning was down to 36 up front and 34 in the rear, cranked it back up on 42 and 40.

Default At least 1 psi for every 10 deg F decrease in ambient air temp...

That is what you tires lose from summer to winter. Be sure to check those tires!
