Speaker line noise/static all of the sudden?

On my way to work today, I noticed that there seemed to be a buzzing coming from my speakers. Having recently installed an RNS-E, I thought that maybe some of the wiring had gone bad (all of the sudden?) and now there was some kind of power interference.
I turned the volume all the way down, but the line noise stayed at a constant volume. --So that was weird.
Then I turned the whole RNS-E off. Still line noise --BUT, some of it went away with the RNS-E. It was almost like there were several buzzing noises coming through the speakers at once, and turning the RNS-E off removed one of those noises.
I know that the RNS-E still gets power when turned off (to run the fan, have lit buttons, etc), so... even with it off, I can't rule out the RNS-E yet.
Then, as I drove, the line noise got louder and louder. Weirder yet, there was this whining noise that was in synch with me opening the throttle. --Almost as if the ghost of the Turbo Lady was trying to pull herself through the speakers of my V8 car!!! (But seriously, that's what it sounded like.)
By the time I reached a parking lot, it got pretty loud... I did a careful listen, and yep, it's definitely from the speakers.
I turned off the car, waited a bit, then turned it back on. The line came back, still kinda loud! It came back right away, before the RNS-E had even displayed its blueish Audi startup screen.
Note that I installed the RNS-E about 3 weeks ago and it's been working fine so far since the install.
Anyone experience this kind of thing? Any ideas?

I had this happen too when I installed my RNS-e. I discovered that by re-installing the RNS-e and being careful about how I loom the wires behind it, it made the noise go away.
Just make sure the wires going back into the dash are not bunched together, but neatly loomed. Also make sure they are not jammed between the RNS-e and the back of the radio compartment.

avoid interference. But, if as you suggest, I'm wrong, then I'll definitely fiddle around with it. Thanks for the info.
