The specs outlined on this sight (PDF of 2005 vs 2007 S4 sedans) has two interesting discrepencies.
1. The curb weight balance of the automatic sean in a 2007 is 60/40 vs 53/47 for the manual and all other manual and auto versions in all other years. Is this a mistake or does this year have a different weight balance? Or is the 60/40 correct and it is incorrect in all other years?
2. The fuel economy numbers are 15/23 for the auto in all models post 2005. For 2005 they are 18/24. Is this correct and if so, why are they higher in 2005. Same engine and transmission I believe. Different gearing?
I am looking seriously at buying an S4 - trading in my 2004 330i (I live in a snowy climate) Can anyone recommend either the manual or tipronic. I would normally go with the manual, except I spend a lot of time in traffic. Plus the potential of increased fuel consuption appeals to me. I will prababaly go with an auto umless someone can give me a reason not to.
Thanks

1. 60/40 split starting 2006 in manual only. I think 2007 forward they are all 60/40. I could be wrong on the 2007 forward item.
2. EPA readjusted how they calculate fuel mileage in 2006. That is why the numbers are different.
