Default Stereo BT - having Pioneer AVIC-D3 nav and head unit installed Monday. Report to come.

I have replaced/upgraded everything else, but kept the factory head unit for cosmetic reasons. I could not stand the idea of fooking up the interior with any other HU. I had my iPod going through an icelink, but the icelink interface gave up the ghost 2 weeks ago, thus re-initiating the search for a new HU option. The AVIC-D3 is very, very nice, and color matches to the interior perfectly. Not cheap ($689 through an ebay seller plus about $250 for the compatible XM receiver with live traffic updates), but I expect the sound to come alive by getting rid of the weak Bose HU. Having nav will be a bonus too. I guess its still cheaper than factory nav, and with way more features.

Default Very nice! The only problem is that you won't have the cluster display...

It's very useful when navigating because it gives you a countdown distance to your turn. Great when in the city with short blocks or on a dark road where you can't see your turn coming up. But it looks like your choice is a fantastic one other than that.

Default That photo appears to be from a B7 A4

Notice the red needles and the 4 spoke B7 multi-function steering wheel, oh and the A4 beltline trim.

Default Its one of the stock pics off the pioneer website. AFAIK, it's a photoshop.

They head unit looks awesome there, but my only worry is that the finish would be very shiny, and not match the soft, matte audi plastics well. The hardware is a definite upgrade over stock nav or even RNS-E though. Good luck, please post some pics after it's all done. Thanks!
