Supercharger question... will it work on other 4.2 V8 engines like in the A6 and A8?

If yes then that means a broader market and a lower cost for us. If not then it will cost us more.

they had to make modifications to the B6S4 4.2 to make it fit. believe it or not it is 2" shorter than the other 4.2L engines.

All of the accessories are driven from the rear of the engine. There's no drive belt on the "front" of the engine, unlike virtually every other car on the market. Since superchargers are belt-driven, that means the pulley needs to go at the BACK of the engine on the B6, whereas it would be at the front (the normal spot) on an A6.

However I'm not sure about the new A8. The S4's chain driven design was also introduced in the Q7 but with FSI.
I thought that both new models (A6/A8) were going to use the new S4 V8 engines but maybe only the A6 got it. Why continue to produce two types of 4.2L motors?
Strangely enough Audi just announced in both the A6 and A8 press releases that for 2007 both models V8s would be switched over to FSI too, like the Q7 giving them a boost in HP to 350 HP and better fuel mileage. Don't forget the new S5 will use the same motor.
Too bad the S4 doesn't get the same treatment... Maybe in the B8 S4 then?
