Supercharger question... will it work on other 4.2 V8 engines like in the A6 and A8?

You're right. The old C5 A6/S6 and D2 A8 have the timing BELT in the front...

All the new 4.2L cars (actually this engine first appeared in the allroad 4.2, believe it or not) have the timing CHAIN in the back.

That would make sense that Audi would use the same motor at this point in time.
