Default do they do anything other than RG40s??? Is there a mesh wheel?

what are the advantages of doing the install at stasis?

Default They offer these...

..which I considered but preferred the RG40's. The RG's had the right mix of performance look and class, for me.

I didn't want another variant of a 5 spoke wheel since every car I've owned since I started driving was 5 spoke. Just worked out that way. And I didn't think the RF62 was agressive enough but still, it's a pretty wheel.

<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/108318/s4rs147.jpg">

They did offer a wheel that looks like it comes right off the Speed Challenge Touring Cars they race. I really liked those but don't know if they are currently offered. I think some Volks wheels are on the list, too. No mesh style that I recall. Jason or Jared would have the answers.

You getting any closer to a new setup?<ul><li><a href="http://www.stasisengineering.com/contact_us.aspx">Clinky my linky for STaSIS</a></li></ul>

Default well, after the meet in Irvine on Sunday, I've decided...

not to change my wheels, since they are the OEM 18" RS4s. They look good, and they are not reps. I'm planning on getting the STaSIS exhaust and H-sport sways in about one month.

I'd like to get the Ohlins SLs at the same time, but I don't have money for all that right now. I'll stick with stock ride height for a while. When I do get the SLs, I'll probably do a 10mm spacer for the stock wheels. Which means I can run a BBK if I want. Preferably STaSIS Alcons, of course.

Is it better to have STaSIS install the products? I live in LA, so that would be time consuming, and more money for the trip and hotel as well.

If I were to get wheels, I'd do them after suspension, and go with a mesh style. I like these Champion RG5s:

<img src="http://www.gmgracing.com/images/champion_rg52big.jpg">

<img src="http://www.gmgracing.com/images/champion_rg53big.jpg">

But I also like another brand called Fikse, the mesh they make is pretty sick too:

<img src="http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/wm.php/images/fiksechroma102.jpg">

<img src="http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/wm.php/images/fiksechroma10.jpg">

<img src="http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk247/channad/chromaCA.jpg">

The other reason I like the Fikse wheels is that they are uncommon.

I've emailed STaSIS a few times, and never received a reply. I assume they are just too busy, and a phone call would be better.

Default The OEM RS4 look is probably the best OEM look going...

The RG5's look awesome and I hear ya on the Fikse's. The Fikse are much more 'meshy' than the RG5's but I like 'em both. The Porsche ain't half bad, either.

As far as contacting the guys at STaSIS I know that Jason mentioned that their business is WAY up for the year. They're definitely busy but if you give them a call they'll help you out.

Honestly, I know $$ matters always when upgrading a car but, I prefer the original design and testing guys to install this stuff. I know others have had nothing but excellent service in their local area and I am sure STaSIS can recommend a great installer. Me, I like knowing it was Shawn who installed and fit my exhaust. It was Jared and Jason helping out installing the wheels and such, Henry doing the brakes. etc. You know, the face-to-face with the source. It was nice to meet Paul Lambert to get a feel for the company before I committed to doing all this. Hell, Jason even let me try out their new TT with the Big Turbo kit on it. A nice treat to be sure!

Besides, they're at Infineon! There's always somethin' somethin' happening and you could visit the Audi Sports Car Experience while you wait. Tons o' R8's, S5's, RS4's, etc. That don't suck. Plus, when your done there are some great roads to try out your new gear!

Default decisions. decisions. honestly though, unless you're doing a ton of track events the stock brakes

are plenty adequate.

BBK's also don't greatly improve stopping distance (that's as much tires as anything). main benefit is the BBK's ability to handle and disburse heat (the bigger the disc, the biggger area to dispurse heart, so you can repeatedly slow from high speeds without fade and some reduction of unsprung weight (depending on the kit). yes, there's probably less deflection and a bit more even clamping with the monobloc calipers and the multi-pistons, but a stock setup with race tires would stop shorter than a BBK and stock tires

they do look nice though. if you're not tracking the car though, I'm not sure they look $2-$5K nice.

if you're driving the car hard enough on the street that you're experiencing brake fade, then you're driving too fast, and should be on a track.

that's just me though

Default Great point. I feel that the stock brakes performed better cold than they did when hot.

At the last ACNA event I did I was surprised how the ALCON's, when cold, didn't seem to be any better than my stockers. Stopping distances even seemed a bit longer (emergency braking excercise).

But, put a little heat to the ALCON's and I found myself decelerating soooo much better than stock that I would mistakenly end up stopping short of turn-in! My instructor did that his first time out in my car, too. Once I got used to it I was amazed at how deep into a turn I could go before braking. A definite difference.

Now, when I'm on the highway (having not used the brakes for a long period of time) I keep in mind my brakes are cold. So, I prepare accordingly.

Totally agree on the tires, too.

Default I will add another point to the discussion and mb save you some $$$...

...'IF' you are going to do ACNA events or other road course venues 3, 4, 5x a year, and will purchase coilovers, regardless of the manufacturer, skip the Hsport front sway (keep it stock) and upgrade the rear bar only. STaSIS will recommend this anyway. I completed my first event the past two days with the SL &amp; Hsport rear only and the car handles superbly with the setup with very little push and added some trailing throttle oversteer. You can't believe it's the same car.
Last year I had the Hsport full set on and the car would not turn in and pushed, pushed, pushed. It actually handles better on turn in with the stock setup than it did with the full swaybar setup, no coilovers.
Think about it. Just because it is there you DON'T have to buy it. .02
