Default are there any reasons not to change the oil sooner than 5000 miles?

I know the initial service interval is 5000 miles, but I am not comfortable leaving in the original oil in for that long. I would not change it any sooner if I had leased the car, but I purchased it, so I have a different perspective here. So other than the cost of the oil and filter, and time involved, why is it not advised to change it out sooner?

Default NO! During the first 5K miles, wear is your friend.

Actually if you took out the original oil and replaced it with non synthetic oil, you will have a faster break in.If not, leave the original oil in for 5k. You will not hurt anything. Plus if anything would happen in the future, you have followed Audi's protocol.

Default Breakin occurs in the first 500-1000 miles -

If it has not occurred by that time - something is wrong. I would change it at 2.5K miles. I did so with my cars.

The old days of 60s they recommended oil changes at 500 miles

Default One opinion

More times somebody gets their hands on the car and attempts to work on it, the better the chances of screwing something up. And since this is outside the normal service interval, if something is screwed up, could be YOU paying for repairs.

Default That is just plain stupid

oil changes are routine maintenance.

That's like saying you don't want electric windows because that is more chances of something failing.
