Default Thinking about Oil consumption and need some help.

I have 117k on my S4 I burn about 2-3qrts a week. I also drive ~100 miles a day. I am thinking about keeping this car as a second car, pulling the motor S/C'ing it. When I pull the motor and do new pistons and rings will this solve most of my oil problem? If not how can I solve it?

Default need to really diagnois the issue

1. Compression test will tell if the valves or rings are bad.
2. Leak down can tell if the valve guides are leaking.
3. It is more common for the valve covers to be leaking. Have you pulled the belly pan and looked for leaks?

Default Depends on when you see smoke. If its running then its prob the rings.

If its after its been sitting, that means the valve stems are allowing oil to leak into the ocmbustion chamber. Do not use snake oils, or magic oil that will fix it!!!

Default I haven't pulled the pan, I did have my Valve covers replaced already.

I do get smoke occasionally upon start up. I guess my question now is that when I do build the engine will replacing the valves solve my problem? Since I will replace the pistons.

Default looks like it is the valve guides but pull the pan anyway

and look for oil

and again do a compression test as well as a leak down to confirm all that is wrong.

I suspect you will not have to do the rings.
