Thinking of trading my B6 S4 for an A6.

if you need it for space, buy it.. If you want it for performance, don't.
I just think A6's are in another category from the S, hard to compare/contrast the 2.

while I really liked the A6, I would never ever go back after owning and driving an S4. Both are great cars, but they're not even comparable. The A6 is a very nice, comfortable, reasonably quick large sedan. If that's what you really want, go for it. But if you think it's truly a sport sedan, you're fooling yourself. I would only go A6 if I really, really needed a large back seat. There is no other reason to buy that car over an S4.

...I'll need to see what the B8 S4 will look like, but one of my biggest complaints about my S4 is the small interior -- it's nice to have some space -- just a preference of mine.
The A6 4.2 is not "S" tuned, so I would never expect it to hold a candle to the S4 -- but it is still a very nice car -- quick, good styling, comfortable, etc.
With the right color and S-line package, it can look pretty sharp.
My S4 is completely stock -- I'm not really into the customization thing & racing -- so I guess I try to find a car that fits me...
