Are those ugly ground effects on the sides replaceable with something less sticking out like that?

I would guess there are some aerodynamic functions to them since some Porsche models have them too
but without seeing them in a windtunnel I really can't say that this is it. Some of the people who see my car think they are fabulous, but I don't really find them terribly attractive.

yeah, not very attractive... look like something was rigged or stuck on there by mistake... only new BMW designs are capable of that it seems.

I am pretty used to the 'wings' now, but I did notice something about them. .
they are quite heavy.
I had to have one replaced because of damage done by the factory jack so I have the one that they took off. It feels pretty solid and heavy which seems like unneeded weight on the car?
Hopefully, they had something in mind when they developed them.

On an A6 4.2 which has had them since 2000, they better match the extebded fender flairs...
...I assume it is to distinguish your 4.2 from the A4's
