Default For those of you who have fullback xhaust system, are downpipes really worth their $$?

Last year I had a dilemma on either buying a new set of RS4 reps or DPs, and I went with the wheels. The mod bug has gotten to me again this time around: improve suspension (coilovers) or more power (DPs)?

I currently have the res AWE CB. And I am leaning towards buying the AWE DPs. For you guys that added the DPs after replacing your stock CB, did you really feel the difference? I see that on AWE's website, the gain is about 10hp.

Any comments would be appreciated

Default I had a just cb for several months, then added the dp. It made

more power, but also got louder. Do it.

Default I had AWE catback for about a year. Now I have a full exhaust.

Do you have AWE non-res? If so, the full exhaust is going to be freakin loud! I have APR downpipes with the AWE catback (non-res). I think it'll sound nicer if you spend the extra money and go with the AWE downpipes like you are planning on (instead of the cheaper APR). Plus, I paid for 10 hours on labor, and it took the guys 14 hours in actuality. This is because the 2 systems don't meet up nice (different sizes). So some welding of connectors had to be done. If you get AWE, everything will fit nice and you should be able to find a shop that does it in no more than 6 hours. Really, they should be able to do it in 4 hours, but people are lazy.

I'd say I do feel a little power gain, but I think the nicer thing is there's no more drone at low rpms. I can drive at any rpm in any gear and it sounds good now.

Default Just did mine today, went the custom route, stock DP's with the main cats removed...

Less than a 2 hour install, everyone on here made it seem much harder than it was. A couple extensions, a universal and a buddy was all it took. And to answer your question, ya, the car sounds insane and the top end pulls a bit harder i think.

Default I have the resonated AWE CB....

and actually I am not gonna buy a brand spankin new DPs. I will buying them from newimageS4 who just traded up his low mileage B6S4 to the B7RS4. The DPs only had 3k miles on them, and he's only selling them for half the price of what it would cost new.

Thanks for your 2cents BergeyRPI

Default do the suspension first. DPs are worth it but you'll get more ...

enjoyment from the COs

Default I've got Milltek downpipes and resonated catbacks. Had them installed at the same time so I can't

speak to the individual component differences. The whole package is very impressive though. I drove a stock S4 the other day and it felt slow and very quiet compared to mine.
