Default thoughts on upgrading the front brakes using the stock calipers...

i'm looking at options around rotors, pads and SS lines for my upcoming B6S4 front brake upgrade.

now anticipate a few of you are just gonna say "<i>forget about the stock calipers and just get a BKK</i>" and that's fine, but i'm not interested in a BBK...

so here's what i'm planning on getting along w/ the stock B6S4 calipers:
- ECS Slotted/Cross-Drilled Rotors
- Carbotech Bobcat Pads
- StopTech Stainless Lines (keeping the B5S4 ones)
- Motul 5.1 Fluid

in other words, the same stuff as what i got for my B5S4 brake upgrade, but for a B6S4 application.

thoughts?

i do realise that the 2 piece rotor from ECS would probably be a better option, but at $650 a pair, if i go down that road i might as well just go a BBK.

i don't plan to change anything to my upgraded B6A4 rear brake set-up... although it's true it would be nice to be able to also upgrade them to a B6S4 set-up... but since these are really rare to come by, i won't do anything just yet.

Default Is this upgrade for the street or track? Forget the ECS slotted "OEM" rotors

I would get frozen rotors from frozenrotors.com (what I use) and have them slotted. They are OEM rotors as well but they are Cryoed. They are much stronger then ECS OEM slotted. If this is for the track don't get cross drilled as the rotors will crack and not last very long - slotted is great though. Also, if this is for the track you want Motul RBF600 fluid. Motul 5.1 is fine for the street though. Also, I (and most here) change pads for the track. Bobcats are great for the street but Panther + or XP8 are great for the track. You would not believe how great this car will stop with a track pad on the front.

Default I've used XP8's & XP10's (more)

they were both fantastic,

I used stock rotors b/c they were the best for the couple track days and normal driving.

I do have a set of OEM Rotors for the B6 S4 that are brand new in box and I need to sell (as I no longer have the car) so if you want (I'm in Seattle) email me and I'll make you an offer you can't refuse.

They are 172 each plus tax &amp; shipping, new, but I'll let them go for the pair at a much lower cost. let me know if you are interested.

p.s. I'll be in bellingham on the 7th so we could just meet up.

thx,

David.

No track -&gt; Upgrade to Cryo OEM rotors...going from an A4 to S4 brake caliper upgrade is enough.
