Tiptronic or manual?

Hi guys - I'm trying to decide whether to get Tiptronic or manual, at short notice because my old car died unexpectedly.
I am not a hyper-aggressive driver. I know a bit about performance driving, having taken a 3-day Skip Barber class and done a few track days. On the other hand, I do not want to race my S4. I certainly plan to take it out on the track, enjoy going fast and learning the limits of the car, etc. I don't have time to do much more than that.
I am guessing that the Tiptronic can probably shift better than me while accelerating, and I can thumb down gears while braking before a turn. But that's just theory heh - I'd appreciate your experience.
Thanks,
Bob.

I don't like the tip, because I feel less immersed in the experience. Shifting in a tip is pointless to me, except to downshift (I have a tip in my Touareg).
If you drive in stop-and-go traffic, get the tip. Otherwise, I'd lean towards the manual.

the S4 tip is Night and day difference and MUCH harder to drive smoothly than a manual.

I thought I was totally sold on a manual S4 untill I drove the tip. I own a tip A6 4.2 and the the 2 cars are worlds apart. I drive 35-40k a year, so I need a tip "too keep my sanity in traffic".
Drive both and see if you could deal with the tip. In "S" the S4 is a very aggresive car.

For track driving of any kind, just go manual. The Tip shifts at funky points which if in the middle of diving for an apex can really be "interesting". It also is really slow at downshift from 4 to 3rd which needs to happen fast on a track.
I love the Tip for daily driving and w/ an APR chip, it comes into its own and behaves even better. But if you've been to Barber, go Manual.
My two cents having track time in both.

6800rpm shift point programed on a tip doesn't allow us to hit the 7000rpm peak horsepower... therefore, a slower car unfortunatly. Some chips change this shift point to redline I believe.
