Tiptronic Vs Manual 0-60 times
In my search for an S4, I have come across quite a few Tiptronics (in CA) but not so many manuals (in my price range). I would not mind the tiptronic, but I noticed that they are significantly slower 0-60 than the manual. I have driven a 2006 A4 S-Line with the paddle shifters, but I was not very impressed with the crispness of the shifts. Does the stock S4 tiptronic shift quicker than the A4 I drove? I have seen the chip that is supposed to give crisper shift points, but do any of you guys have experience with them?

I have an 2001.5 S4 and I just had the GIAC Tip Chip installed. It is much nicer when doing downshifts and seems to stay in a higher RPM range so when you get on the gas your RPMs are up allready therefore making the car more fun to drive. It does seem to shift a bit faster, but the main thing is that it keeps you in the correct RPM range for fun driving.

Yes, that is the conclusion I have come to. I am biding my time to find an S4 with the luxury package (aluminum trim and silver alcantra seats). I know it seems like I am knit picking over price, but I have only been out of college and in the work force for about a year and $35k is all I can swing!
