Default Do most of you disregard the 95Y XL load rating recommendation?

I went with the BF GoodRich KDW's to try and stay with the XL load requirement.

The 95 yes, the XL no. As long as it's XL, you should be fine. 95 is unnecessary.

I like my R888s. But, they are noisy.

Default Your response confused me, so I went to Tire Rack to research the issue...

Boiled down in simplest terms:

1. Tires with XL ratings are reinforced to withstand higher load pressures (For P-metric tires 41 p.s.i) - My assumption is that an extremely heavy (awd- front tires supporting a 4.2L engine) car at high speeds would tend to heat up with a corresponding pressure increase.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=55

2. The 95 in 95Y refers to the load rating that the tire is designed to handle (95=1521 lbs - by extension 4x1521 lbs = 6,084 lbs of gross vehicle weight, which does in fact seem excessive for a car that weighs 3,925 lbs). As probably everyone but myself knew already, Y refers to tires designed to exceed 186 mph. Every recommended tire on Tire Racks site for a 2004 S4 was a 95 load rated tire. I would assume that this builds a margin of safety for how front loaded our cars appear to be.

Default Any reason Michelin PS2's are not on your list?

Definitely the best tires I've owned.

Also look at the BFG g-Force KDW.
