Default Torn Bushings; Upper Control Arm

great.

Under waranty, dealer ordered all four bushings. I'll go with stock for now, until I'm out of waranty, in which case, polyurethane here I come.

Default Who makes poly bushings?

also make sure they are tightening the bolts for those bushings when the suspension is at resting load. If they are tightened while the suspension is hanging free it will stress them at normal resting height and even more when the suspension is compressed. They will tear faster.

Default Oh. and I wouldn't recommend poly bushings anyway.

they make noise and it gets annoying. THere is not enough flex so they need to slide in the metal sleeve... the lube dries out and they squeak.

K-Mac has poly bushings with camber adjustment, those are the only ones I know of. I had them on my A4 for 2 years.

Default What causes this?

Do you think your Ohlins caused this? The added stress to the drivetrain?

Default exactly.

That would be the only reason I would go poly..... camber adjustments up front.

Default wear.....

I drive the car pretty hard. Couldn't tell you if the Ohlins were the result of it, but the dealer doesn't seem to think so. These bushings are a common failure point, as I've seen the bushings tear across the model lineup.

Default So you didn't have any warranty problems...

with the ohlins? Figured they might try to push that one on you, but I guess it depends on who you talk to.

Default I always go to Rusty, he's pretty leniant.

Been taking modded cars to him for 7 years and he's always been pretty cool with getting the work done.

Default

When your stasis install was done, did they release the pressure in the bushings post-drop?

Default torn bushings and control arms going not unusual if you drive on bad roads a lot...

polyuerthane bushings squeak and are noisey..
