Default Two batteries in less than four years...

Long weekend of disasters topped off by battery failing in the S4...again! This is the second one in under four years. Last one gave a little warning but this one didn't seem to, just failed.

Is it just me or is this becoming common with the '06?

Eric.

Still on the original battery in my almost-four-year-old '06 S4

My 07 went at 1 year 8 months with three days warning. It started to vary the idle significantly at start up. It also seemed to strain at start up, but as I said, only for those three days. I couldn't believe that I had to pay ($300.) for a new battery at under 2 years old.
They told me the new battery is warranteed for 2 years but they won't give you the full 2 years on your new car battery because they (Audi) cannot account for how long the car sits prior to the dealer selling the car. Absolute BS IMHO.

I'm beginning to think that living in a warm climate combined with the tremendous amount of heat in that engine compartment is really putting a toll on the battery.

Read any good sites on batteries and you will find it is heat that is tougher on batteries than cold weather - The cold will show a failing battery sooner but the heat is what destroys them

My battery just failed on my S4 yesterday. Yesterday morning it seems to have a hard time starting up. After work the battery is just dead so i had to get it jump started. After the drive home, i turned the car off and back on again and it wouldn't start. Seems like it is not charging.

My car will be 4yr old this Oct. Is battery covered under warranty?

Battery is not covered after 12 months I think. So it's all you.
