Default Well, that is why you report it to your carrier and hopefully they will do the right thing.

If you have Allstate or State Farm good luck but if you have a premium carrier such as Chubb or Travelers you may have a shot.
Also, at least in NY, Corps. must have an attorney to represent them so if this jurisdiction is the same they now have out of pocket expenses and may be more motivated to resolve it.

I agree the DJ route makes bad business sense but if you file in small claims court paying a lawyer on a per appearance basis is a good option and at $500 an appearance it should cost you $1,000-1,500 which makes sense.

Lawyer for advice and a letter... small claims for a lawsuit if those do not work
