Update on cold start problem on the S4...
Just to update, the vehicle has had intermittant cold start problems for exactly 10 months now. They occur now about every 48 hours leaving me stranded in various places and frequently late to work to see my patients at the hospital. This has rendered the car useless as a daily driver for 80% of its ownership. I have taken over 20 videos of it not starting...

etc, etc, and 3 different Audi dealerships have refused to fix it because it "doesnt throw any faults" Of course most of us know a bad starter will not ever throw a fault but, hey, we're just dumb audi owners right?
The car has most recently been at the dealership for 5 days now and they claim it is fine although I now can go 48 hours with it not starting. I suspect what is happening is what happens to me which is that it wont start for up to a half hour and when they get their diagnostics hooked up it finally starts for them so they dont want to get big bad AoA in a bunch so they replace nothing.
So I have purchased 4 Audi cars in 3 years. I have personally walked in 5 people who bought cars from the Audi dealership who were never considering an Audi before I walked them in. I have been sponsored by Audi tuning companies, I have taken an active roll in the Audi club, I own an audi related website and the dealerships continue to provide the worst care I have seen in owning over 30 different cars.
Now I am out almost 50% in rental car fees as what a starter will cost. I have no option but to buy the new starter myself and to buy a second car in the mean time (one that I will be able to actually drive) as I cant allow myself to be late to work every week and to continuously strand passengers with me. That is all for now.

UPDATE: I am off the phone with Audi Customer relations and they state...
"I'd be more than happy to call the dealership to make sure they are following protocol. We dont accept email from customers at this time so you won't be able to send us your evidence of the problem."
This is the same response I have always received from them. Just nice talky talky people who have absolutely no authority other than public relations.

just a thought..
sorry to hear about your problem. I havent followed the thread, but I will throw in my experience..couldnt hurt. I had an intermittent starting problem: when I pushed in clutch, nothing would happen. Waited a few minutes, and then started right away. Kept on happening. I thought it was either a starter or switch on the clutch. Turned out to be a bad battery cell. What threw me off was that I was still getting battery power all the time. Hope this helps.
