Danny at KMD Tuning was an A tech at an Audi dealer and he knows what he's doing, I've been going to him for about 6 years now and he works on all my cars.

B6 S4 apparently had a coolant leak at the back. Service dept had it up on the rack, beautiful block on the floor upside down, tranny disconnected. Seeing the chain drive was pretty cool. All work was under warranty of course.

If you spend more than $25k, you'd have been better off with off-the-shelf the RS4. That aside, good luck on the exciting project! Hopefully your emissions will not suffer from new cams.
