I use the larger Pela Pro 14 with success. Maybe the 6000 is too small.

Agreed. If it's not VW 502.00/505.01 certified, do not use. That is more important than weight.

Castrol Syntec 0W-30 (a.k.a., 'German Castrol') would be a much better choice as far as a 30-weight oil goes. It carries VW 502.00, 503.01 and 505.00 ratings as well as others from Mercedes and BMW.
