Default The tires were amazing. I was VERY impressed by them...

they are not quite racing slicks and drive more like a street tire with the feedback, yet they give amazing grip and very progressive tracking out capability. They do need to be hot, and they are best when on a hot track...I'd say the most important thing is to make sure that you get the tire pressures right. I was running consistently high in my psi's and finally got it right this afternoon. BTW, I had all 4 tires at 30 psi cold. The fronts would heat to 42, the rears to 38. Perfect. Just so you know, I started off with 38 cold and I came off the track at 51. So they get VERY hot.

The xp8's were amazing as well. AWESOME stopping capability. NO fade whatsoever. And no rotor wear, which is quite amazing. BUT, the fluid has to go. After the first day I had so many bubbles in the system that I practically had to go to the floor to get the braking I needed (which there was plenty, just had a lot of play). A higher temperature fluid would fix that.

I'll have more and some vids in a minute. Working on getting them uploaded.

Default Are you using the stock brake fluid or Motul RBF 600?

I think once it boils it's got to go for sure.

Did Dunlop have a spec on the tire pressures? My target hot pressures on the little car have been about 44 or so (bled down from 48 to 50 coming off track). It'll be awhile before I need new tires since I first am going to use up what's left of the Contis and then I have my RT-215s that should last through most of next season at least (unless someone like Mr. Pobst gets loose on a track with the thing).

Default Yep, stock fluid. I didn't really see the sense is upgrading the fluid since I get free flushes...

at the dealer. And the fluid did fine at the last track event. Truth is the fluid was OK, but not ideal. Next time I will have Motul in the car.

Default Buy yourself one of these

<a href="http://www.motiveproducts.com/02bleeders.html">Motive Brake Bleeder</a>

Then you can easily bleed your own brakes after every event and get all of the dirty bubbly stuff out yourself. You get to pick your own fluid and it's lots cheaper this way too....

Default Interesting comments about handling. That explains why sedan owners are complaining about front end

push while Avant owners like dojo and myself are loving the fact that we can get oversteer out of our cars. I find the Avant to be *VERY* well balanced and wouldn't dream of touching the suspension.

Default Yes, it's only about 100lb different

but the break-in is probably the biggest difference I think...sounds fun!
