As I scratched the hell out of the rear one, hitting the curb. Why do you guys waste your money on it. I am going to change to 15 inchers w/ big donuts. I am so F***ing pissed.

Because they look good. ;-) You'll learn from your mistakes though...
When I had my B5 I bent 8 rims (you read that correctly) and curbed 4 of my aftermarket rims and all 4 of my stockers.
Now I've had the B6 for well over a year and no curb rash yet. (crosses fingers)
And I had ONE bad incident in DC and now I have a little wobble in one of my Maya's. But that's ok. The price you pay to be damn good lookin'. ;-)

Doesn't really help. If your going to hit a curb your going to hit it.
Really only helps if your at a steep angle. But if your just happen to crest the curb, your going to scratch it regardless.
The rim protector will help a bit when you hit potholes as it the tire will wrap around the lip as it compresses, but it won't stop the lip from bending if you hit a pothole hard enough. It will keep it from getting scratched though.
