Water spots on metallic window trim

Water spots on metallic window trim
The metallic trim around the window of my B7 S4 wag is showing what appear to be water spots. They do not come off when I wash the car. I have heard of this happening to other people, but I haven't figured out how to clean these off.
Has anyone here figured out how to keep these trim pieces looking right?

I use honda spray wax. I used to just use it on the motorcycle only but it has many wonderful uses.
I buy it at the local honda motorcycle shop.. keeps it looking real nice. You should be able to buy a little (maybe 3oz) spray bottle to give it a try.
