Default Wear and Tear

I recently purchased an 05.5 S4. I want to enjoy this car but obviously I'd like to take good care of it as well. Can someone point me to some information regarding how much wear and tear the car can take (e.g., can I run it up to 7k RPM without worrying about hurting the engine?). Thanks.

Yeah, people have told me that "the car is made to be driven hard" but I don't want to end up with a blown engine or the like.

I recently bought an 05.5 S4 also and am keeping the revs down below around 5k RPM for the first 1k miles while I'm breaking the engine in. I figure I can wait until I hit that mileage to unleash all of the power so in the long run the engine continues running perfectly. After the 1k mile mark though, I've also heard the engine can handle lots of runs to 7k RPM, so I'll begin getting up there then.

Default 35,000 miles later on my 05.5 and not a single engine problem

I had my car at the nurburgring at the 1100 mile mark and have driven it pretty hard since I bought it. I wouldnt worry about running it to red line. This engine is absolutely incredible and can take alot of hard driving.

Default I ran mine to the redline the first day I had it. And the second day.....

25K miles and ZERO oil consumption. BTW, I don't beat the car. Running to the redline is not beating the car.

Have had my 2005.5 for 14 months now 41k on it drive it hard and the engine thanks me everytime, just went to Toronto 681 miles each way in 8 hrs and 20 mins both ways , it runs like a dream, don't worry about the engine its built to be driven.
