The 2004 S4 will not come to North America with a full screen GPS navigation system (commonly known as Nav+), instead bringing forward the trip computer-based navigation found in the current A4. Rumor has it that the next generation DVD-based GPS navigation system with a full color screen will be available in the 2005 model S4.
If "rumor has it", then it's likely that Audi was giving the press reviewers hints of what is to come. I'd say then the answer to your question is that the chances are "good".

https://www.audiworld.com/features/tests/2004s4.shtml</a

Basically Audi's take on the iDrive concept -- trying to tie all of the complicated user-interface paradigms of the modern luxury car into one (hopfully) easy-to-use mechanism. This is to fight off the "proliferation of buttons" that Euro cars have often been accused of.
The new A8 is the first Audi car that will feature MMI. It will eventually trickle down into the rest of the model lines.
Unlike the complicated BMW iDrive, MMI is said to be much more intuitive and easier to master.
Because the MMI system has a large, foldaway color LCD and can support a new DVD-ROM-based navigation system, many people are wondering whether the '05 B6s will be getting a simple DVD-nav/fixed-console-screen upgrade, or whether Audi will actually redesign the B6 interior midmodel to accomodate an MMI interface. (The B5 went through interior-redesigns during its life, so it's certainly not unheard of.)
