Why get an S4 instead of a 335?

Audi lease rates have sucked for quite some time now. Bad money factor, bad residuals. ESPECIALLY when compared to the BMW 3 series.

BTW, I have owned seven audis..and I now have a BMW 335i...here is why:
Audi:
Pluses: Quattro, fit and finish, the friends I have with Audis
Minuses: Low residual value, higher price for a sedan, weight, did I say weight? Lot of dealers treat you badly and blame everything on modifications. Poor mileage.
BMW:
Pluses: goes like snot, bang for the buck, high residuals, free maintenance, better experience at dealership, BMW loaner cars, more dealerships to choose from. Very decent mileage..and actually very good when on the race track..very surprised.
Minuses: understeer from factory, No LSD, run flat tires, really heavy stock wheels (31 lbs each..yes, I said 31), poor interior, leather is not soft and plastic in interior is definitely inferior, mystique of being a BMW owner (people really dont like you)
That all taken into consideration..I stopped buying audis and leased this 335i. I have modified it...and it is getting really really nice now.
Steve out.

i've seen at least half a dozen 335i sedans and probably a dozen coupes since they first hit the road....and two B7 S4s, ever (not including the dealership).

Around L.A., it's not even close. I'd say 10 to 1 or 15 to 1. I see about 2-3 B7 S4's per month and about 20 or 25 335 Sedans per month. They are everywhere. Great car, but 335's in LA are like Ford F-150's in Nebraska.

and went with the S4 for a number of reasons, mainly shift linkage, suspension (biggie) and the wonderful V8. But, my wife has a 328xi with steptronic and loves it - the engines in BMWs are incredibly smooth, as are the automatic transmissions. Since I was buying a manual, that was a big isssue for me - the BMW shifter was long, vague and very Un-BMW like. Honestly, you can't go wrong with either car.

I like BMWs and Audis. My `06 S4 is my second Audi in as many years. In response to an S4 vs. a 335, I would say that it boils down to taste, preference, and driving style. Frankly, both are great cars and, either way, you'll enjoy what you're driving. The reasons why I like the S4 are the V8 and Quattro. The Recaro seats are exceptional and I like the cabin lay-out as well.

plenty of BMW's but i definately see more Audis on the road. every day i see atleast 2 S4's sometimes an S6 or S8 and every so often an RS4 here and there(just the newer models, see quite a few more of the b6 and b5 era vehicles). I think an M3, M5, or M6 stands out more around here, which is strange since i lived in CA for 8 years where evryone and thier mother had a BMW or Mercedes
