Now that winter is approaching and many have been thru one winter in their vehics, its time to buy snows. Has anyone been able to directly compare these two tires? From my research, the Blizzaks are a better snow/ice tire, but how about when the roads are dry? Any thoughts are welcome...

ton's of info on this in the archives, I had em and they were the best I've had.
simply amazing.
if you go either of those that you listed, they are both great. no one is better or worse.

the 22's kinda disappointed me in the Wet/Dry but the 25's new compound is supposed to fix that while keeping the great snow/ice traction.

The Blizzaks are great in horrid winter snow and ice conditions, but I hate their dry road characteristics (which of course is most of our winter)...only a few times a year do I feel it is extremely trecherous to drive. The Dunlops have never let me down in horrid driving conditions, and they are great in dry road situations, which happens to be most of the winter....so, I will not buy the Blizzaks again. I feel that the Dunlops do everthing well, whereas the Blizzaks do not.

Those were the tires I originally wanted, but couldn't get them in our size. So I ended up with the LM-25s. I am very impressed with these. Rain, snow, ice, Autobahn, country roads etc. here in Germany. Great handeling in all situations. BTW I have them full size on the stock wheels.

A friend in VT with a b5S4 has Nokians, sez he'll run out of clearance before he runs out traction.

They were great for our climate. They did not come in the stock S4 size, so I wound up with a slightly smaller tire. They work, but I'd prefer the stock size. I did encounter a curb with unpleasant results.
As for handling: The M2s handled better in the wet (to me) than the the stock contis seem to handle in the dry. I did not run the M2s up to a significantly illegal speed, but anything around the limit on a U.S. road and they seemed to have better turn in and crisper response (could partly be a funciton of the smaller overall diameter). I got them because they were deeply discounted on tirerack. I'd get tires with more sidewall having experienced these for a winter. I have to be a little more careful than normal -- leading to little incremental parking adjustments.
