Default i know that's what you want to call them. but if you google "bi-xenon" most definitions say it is a

single xenon lamp used to produce both high and low beams.

heck even this Hella press release uses "bi-xenon" to describe a single xenon bulb being used for both beams

i seem to remember you posting about the differences, and understand them, but was wondering if you could maybe find that post again and link it<ul><li><a href="http://www.hella.com/produktion/HellaPortal/WebSite/Internet_usa/PressForum/Product_News/News_03_21_2002.jsp">http://www.hella.com/produktion/HellaPortal/WebSite/Internet_usa/PressForum/Product_News/News_03_21_2002.jsp</a</li></ul>

Default I'll see if I can find it. Basically, Hella coined and trademarked the name Bi-xenon ...

from what I understand. Like the new A6 and the A8 both have bi-xenon housings, that use two xenon bulbs.

Valeo decided to coin the term Xenon+ for their design. And it makes sense, not xenon, not bi-xenon, but xenon+. :-)

Default Yea, I had to do some research to prove the difference between british spec and euro standard...

once that was done, LLtek decided they would offer me a full refund and have to take it up with Valeo to get their euro standard.

I decided to keep mine, since we can't get a fix on when the euro standard will be available, and everything that I see that is available is too damn expensive. I got a great deal on my LLtek housings when they were on-sale.

And actually, the british spec and euro standard are two different housings, with two different part numbers. They cannot be "flipped" from one to the other. Rather, the cut-off is a piece of metal that is located in the xenon part of the housing. You cannot get to it, since it's ultra-sonic welded. I was hoping to be able to remove it and install it backwards, but it appears that's not an option. You just have to make sure that you don't get British spec headlamps. Which, by the way, end in "AA" as far as part numbers is concerned.

Default Yes, there is a way to tell before you install them.

Your going to have to look inside the housing, and I'll get to that in a minute.

They are xenon+!!! Congrats!!! Now, I hope that you ordered the silver vision bulbs from AMbulbs or SPP??? If not, you can't install them just yet. The xenon bulb, the ballast, and the halogen bulb can all be moved over to the new housings. However, the turn signal bulbs cannot be used. We use dual filament bulbs over here in the US because they have to be used as turning signals AS WELL AS parking lights.

In the EU, they don't have parking lights. They just use them as turn signals, so they are single filament. The city bulbs serve the purpose of parking lights. I can't tell from your pic, but make sure that they include the city bulb. You can see it in the halogen bulb section of the housing. Take a look from the front, look at the halogen high beam, and you should see a little bulb right underneath the halogen bulb. (or where it should be, since your halogen is not installed just yet.)

If you haven't ordered the silvervisions just yet, I'd give Eric at SPP a call and get those things ordered ASAP!!! You might also want to order some H6W cool-blues to replace the city-bulb with, that way they aren't yellow. I did, much better look.

Default To tell if they are british spec or not...

your going to want to take the rear lid off.

Take a look at the housing from the rear, you want to be looking inside the housing. Find where the xenon bulb should go in. If you look inside the xenon chamber, you will see a metal bar that's inside. It has the cut-off.

Your going to want to see something that has this shape:

______/------------ (this is euro-standard, or US code)

Mine are british spec, so they look like this:

--------------\________ (backwards)

Default Yea, I kept mine. No idea when LLtek is going to get that resolved.

They have a lot on their plate at the moment.

The LED's busted? That's no fun. What happened? Just burnt out?

I went with some Pilips Cool Blue H6W's. Still not as blue as I thought they were going to be, but much whiter. Matches the SPP superwhites perfectly.
