How so? Mine work perfectly well...
sure, the cutoff is reverse, but it has been aligned to the point where it points straight and fairly level. Haven't received a flashing once.
And as for the question as to whether or not they work properly, they work as intended. Turning the light switch to the parking light position causes the city bulb to glow. There are no amber lights with the e-code setup.
When you turn the light switch to low beam, the xenon bulbs as well as the city lights stay illuminated. Still, there is no amber signal bulb that is lit. The city bulbs serve as the parking light situation. The turn signals are single filament push-design bulbs. Our US stock housings use dual filament wedge-design bulbs. They will not work with the e-code setup.
When you are in the low-beam situation, the xenon bulb as well as the city bulb are illuminated. When you pull the stalk, the halogen bulb illuminates, meanwhile, a shutter solenoid is activated and causes a metal bar that is located in front of the xenon bulb to drop. This allows more xenon light to shine out of the housing. The result is quite bright.
The same situation occurs when you push the stalk as well. It appears that the xenon bulb is used to flash whenever they have been previously lit.
When you pull the stalk, the halogen beam is used for flash-to-pass. But if you push them forward, the halogen will glow and the xenon bulbs will be lit as well.

Re: How so? Mine work perfectly well...
Yeah, what I'm saying is that when you have the highbeams on (not just flashing) that it's only the xenon and not the halogen. I don't know how the S4 headlights work in Europe or if they work properly swapped into American cars or not, just saying that they work one way on OEM bi-xenons on another US Audi car. I can't imagine them working differenty on different models, but who knows?
