Remember, Audi sells more cars in China every year than they do in the US. Their appetite for gasoline is increasing rapidly (as is that of India). The price of steel is out of sight, largely because of the huge demand from China.
This should be expected, as their economy is growing by leaps and bounds. Has nothing to do with the fact that "Asians are materialistic" or anything like that... it's the fact that there are more people able to afford these things now in their country.

Your statement is a crude stereotype and is certainly considered a racist statement. The fact that you do not and cannot recognize that is a problem.

When I see one I find my eyes wondering all over the car, admiring it in some ways and disliking it in others, but at least interested in it. Same with the new 5-series...I look at every different line on the body to try to figure out what was going through the designers' minds. Each of those two models also draws attention to itself through technical innovation as well, for better or worse.
But the new 3-series somehow manages to both be visually jarring and completely uninteresting. It blends in with the rest of the cars on the road, and if you force yourself to look at it, you wish you hadn't wasted the time.

I drove the 330i last weekend. It was shockingly good in terms of chassis, engine, transmission, clutch, sport seats. My wife had a E46 328i previously. Looks or no, this car is very impressive for $42K. 30MPG highway too. Of course, forget about it for tough snow situations, etc. -Pete, Stratmosphere

I was speaking only of the exterior design of the new 3 series. It is really an unchanged and rather unintersting design.

I guess everyone will get used to the cars. We actually liked the new 3-series. A bit contrived, but better than the 5 or 7 series. -Pete

Was impressed by the non-iDrive interior...had lots of nice details. I will admit that the 3 series design is MUCH better looking when it has the sport pack with bigger wheels, but i would strongly hesitate to compare the interior of that car to a Subaru. There was beautiful leather detailing on the doors and other touches that really impressed. BTW, the new 7 looks great on the front but the back of it looks funky with those taillight extensions on the trunk lid. Think it would havce looked better with the new front and the old back!
