But man, you gotta understand in a situation like this, no matter how well you can articulate or how good you look in a three piece, you hold absolutely NO clout with the judge, none whatsoever. You attorney on the other hand does. I will be honest with you, in your case reputation is everything, absolutely everything. You don't have to show up to court unless you are being charged with a Felony Offense in most states. My attorney advised my not to come to my hearing as well, she said it's not a good idea because most of the judges enjoy embarassing you in court as it is. Good Luck Sia, keep me posted on what happens.

You were scared that the car behind you was a drunk. It was St. Pat's, and he was inches from you at highway speeds.
You thought he was harassing you, you were afraid he might try to hit you or something. Survival instinct took over. You got away from him as fast as you possibly could, for your own safety.
This is the argument that your lawyer explains to the cop that he would put forward in court. He then adds that the cop was driving to endanger, and there is a police witness to this fact (the other cop). Your lawyer points out that you have not raised charges, and that if he drops his, you will not.

with you it will even be worse. You are going to need a lawyer and be prepared to do community service and or a slight bit of time in the county lockup. You may even lose your licence for a few months to a year. This is just like a DUI and getting into an accident. I will say it again get a lawyer and they can try to work out a lower penalty. Good luck bro i feel for you.
