On a limited production new vehicle, especially when one can get this done at an Audi dealer.
The Mercedes ECU tunes run about $2000 to $3000 on the AMGs limited production vehicles.

Oh give me a break. Limited production? You are saying that we should pay more than in the past just because it's a more expensive car? What a horrible argument. Our car is most certainly NOT limited production.

Numbers under 4000 units/year is still limited production. The AMGs have been in the range 3000-4000 units per year. The ECU tunes have always been very expensive, especially when they first come out. The $1495 is much cheaper than what I am used to from the Mercedes AMG aftermarket.

Ok lets do ourselves a favor and not compare the Audi tuning market to the Mercedes tuning market. If you are happy to spend $3k on a flash, I'm sure the tuners would love to have your money. For the rest of us who have been tuning our Audis for years, it's a slightly different story.

It is amazing the number of people willing to pay close to $2000 for an exhaust system that gives very little HP benefit, but balk at $1495 for more substantial HP benefit. The dollars per HP improvement of an ECU at $1500 is still better than any other aftermarket mods, currently offered.

I had a GIAC ECU tune and TCU tune, plus additional stock ECU and TCU modules, to put it back to stock for warranty work. That cost me way more than $1495, back in 2001 on my S4 Tiptronic.
