Default 19 vs 18 inch wheels

Hey group,

I am thinking about getting an S4 (was previously in a B7) - I live in Westchester, occassionally commute to Manhatan, and was curious to know what people's experiences with the 19's were...I probably would like to get the ADS, but the 19's worry me...the ADS comes with 19's and according to the dealer, they cant be swapped...

try them (19's) out for yourself and see what you think. I test drove one with 19's and ADS and I thought it rode fine. You can always swap your 19's with somebody locally that has 18's or sell your 19's and buy 18's. I am running aftermarket 18's.

I live in the pothole capital of PA. Ran 19s on my 335i and swapped 18s for 19s on my S4. The ride is a LITTLE more harsh and the is a LITLE more probability of bending a 19" wheel , but I would recommend the 19s. The B8 just looks better with the 19s. BTW, If you do want the 18s, there should be no problem selling them or swapping with someone. Check out bonedocs thread below. He potentially has a car coming with 18s and he wants 19s. BTW, many dealwrs will do a swap of 18s for 19s since they can then make money on a future customer that wants the 19s.

Agree. I went for 18's just for ride. In fact I went to 255/40's for even more sidewall than stock 18's. 19's or 20's look better.

I thought your car looked just fine with 18's... in person. Wasn't as much of a fan in photos (was scoping your car long before I got mine if I remember correctly) ... but when I saw it in the flesh, it looked great... I guess that's how it goes?

Getting the right rim is way more important than 18/19. Pick something ugly and it won't matter what size you're running!

well thanks DrV!, I like those wheels, some people tell they are dated though. They have been around for awhile, but I think they are pretty timeless. I could have course run them in 19's or 20's as well.
