So,basically I'm in love with my B8 S4 however, I came across a very rare (especially in canada) 2004 RS6 at my local dealership... Now, the RS6 (I find is butt ugly) was the most amazing power/experience I've ever had thus far in a car. I guess my question is if the RS6 (which appears to be very clean and has VERY LOW Milage for an '04 only 36K) checks out and is all good mechanically etc... would it be worth giving up my 6 month old S4?? Just so attracted to the rarity and power of the rs6... although, I'm definitely losing technology, and luxury if I gave up the S4 would love opinions. Thanks!

You want to get rid of a car that is superior in just about every way to a car that is now 6 years old and built off a horrible horrible platform? Really? What sense does this make?

Basically, I have about 30K owed at the end of my Balloon Finance (in 2013)... so I'll have to refinance the S4 and have it for another 3 years or so after that (if I choose to keep it). Whereas if I trade in the S4 I will get money back as it's worth more than the RS6 (listed at 41k). Plus in acceleration the S4 is definitely inferior nor does it come close to the V8 Engine and exhaust purr the RS6 has. I don't know... have a paid off RS6 or have to refinance an S4 in 3 years... just though financially it would make more sense as well... not looking for the green light from anyone necessarily just non biased opinions

You asked for a non-biased opinion and I gave you one. You'd be moving backwards, and financially it makes NO sense. Do you have any idea how much money you'd lose on trading in a 6 month old car?

You sure it is an 04? I thought they were only over here in 03 at least the states, not sure about Canada.... Chip your car and let me know if the RS6 is still walking it?

Went through this exact same consideration before I ordered my S4.
I actually really like the look of the RS6 in addition to the power, so it was a tough decision for me... until I really dug into maintenance costs. When the RS6 is running, it is a beast of a car. A simple chip will put you in a position to eat just about anything you come across. That said, these cars are often not running well. The DRC issue is mostly taken care of via recall or aftermarket suspension, but even still, they are VERY expensive to maintain.
With that in mind, I decided I would chip my S4 when it gets here, and enjoy the warranty, far superior technology, chassis, and comfort.
YMMV, but I would be very careful about an RS6 no matter how well it's been maintained.
FYI, I'm in Canada, and the one I was looking at was also an 04.

Noted Thanks!! I also have to include the fact that its coming from a dealer and I'm getting a 2 year bumper to bumper warrantee which should help with any "issues" that come up. I don't know I just saw it and took it for a test drive and was awestruck by the power, performance, and braking ability... just don't want to make a mistake.
