As long as they can afford to pay for them (not carrying a credit card purchase forward for months) and they want them, then more power to them! It is great for the economy and I'm sure Detailer's Domain is happy about it too.

Hi Guys,
I need an advice from owners of b8 S4 in North East region. I am planning on buying a 2012 S4 and really love how the car looks with 19" wheels, both regular and Titanium package ones. Being from NYC, my concern is with possible damage to wheels from the myriad of potholes around the five boroughs. Also, 19" wheels only come with summer performance tires which, obviously, don't make a whole lot of sense considering NE winters. Should I simply buy a separate set of wheels/tires for winter? Can somebody with a B8 S4 with 19" wheels share their experience of driving the car in winter/snow conditions?
Thanks to all!

I made this choice for the following reasons:
1) Can't drive on the summer tires in the winter.
2) Don't want to bugger up the peelers by having tires changed twice a year.
3) The summer wheels will look better longer by not being exposed to the winter salt.
4) Bought "tire and wheel" insurance for $500 for 5 years. Pays up to $7000 for wheel and tire damage (functional, not cosmetic and not pro-rated) for any wheels or tires on the car.
With the number of potholes in New England (MA in particular) I expect I will max out the insurance claims before 5 years are over.
