Default 2011 Grand Sport ....... long

Before you think I am posting to the wrong forum...... I drove a 2011 Grand Sport Corvette this weekend with the 6 speed manual. I have to say I really liked it. There is something visceral about a burbling push rod V8, sitting very low and looking out over that curved hood. I had never driven a Vette before, the interior does not compare to the S4 but the driving experience was compelling with 430 HP and 400+ ft lbs of torque. Maybe I am just missing a manual as my S4 has the S-tronic and seems almost too refined at times, if that's possible. I know it is apples to oranges but it got me thinking a little bit, not to replace my S4 but to add to the stable. I have not had a second car for quite a few years but it might be a fun ride. Am I out of my mind?

Why not? Life is short, if you can afford to have two cars, go for it! I know if I win the lottery I'd have many cars.

I'd get a Porsche before a Corvette... But if you like it, go for it.

the manual in the vette feels better than the clutch/manual setup in the S4. I have driven both. GO FOR IT> only live once the vette is a great bang for the buck non practical toy. Or get a CPO Z06

I don't think you're crazy at all and would love to drive one of those. If I didn't need 4 doors that would definitely make my short list to check out. I know people say by default "get a 911" but having had a few it would be a nice change for me.

I will say one thing though...if I did get one it would be a one year old "gently owned" model. The depreciation curve for Vettes isn't pretty.

I love Corvettes. Big engine, loud exhaust , Goes like hell and corners. I like the styling. Interior is still so so . Top come off on the coupe for a pseudo convertible . Don't let the Porsche snobs deter you if you really want one. Then again, a Porsche is also really nice. BTW, I'm an old muscle car guy.

+2 on Bruce.

Depends on the year and type you get. You could get a decent mileage 996 turbo for about the same as a new vette.

Agreed... I was thinking about a new Porsche... A base model Boxster will cost as much as the GS and while it may handle as well the power in the vette will be huge in comparison...
