vettes depreciate like rocks. You can pick up a 1-2 year old one pretty darn cheap. I'd say go for a z06

Totally...especially after last night. I had a chance to drive my friend's 2009 Porsche 911 Turbo 6MT. What a rush it was!!! I'm really looking forward to the next track day because she said that she'll come with me and let me take the Porsche out on track.

Thanks for the feedback. I have driven a 911, and they are certainly nice, awesome in a different way, pricier to repair, no V8 burble, etc. I know the Corvettes interior is not going to win any awards....... but the car is cool in it's own way. I like the idea of a slightly used one as they do drop in value fairly quick. If I do get one it will be mainly a weekend driver anyway with some light road course duty, and since I live in the northland it will be in the garage all winter.

I went to the Corvette factory tour in Bowling Green, KY and I have to say watching them being built made me appreciate the car a lot more. The car is a piece of Americana with tons of history. And the latest series of Vettes (esp. the Z06 and ZR1) are amazing machines. I'd get one for sure if I had the money and already owned a 911.

Aren't Corvettes made of plastic instead of steel? Shoot, I'd hate to be in an accident in one of those!

I've got a C6 vette and my S4. Two very different, fast cars. The biggest difference for me is refinement. Audi has it, my vette does not. The vette is way more brutish... Which can be a good thing. Both cars put a smile in my face but if I had to choose only one it would be my S4

Yeah they are fibreglass... its not like the chasis and frame are fibreglass though. Corvettes have a very solid structure. I actually cross shopped between a Corvette, A4, and A5 (odd bunch I know). Corvettes are great machines after you get over that there is nothing too interesting going on in the interior. I got to play inside of one at the dealership and OMG that dual-mode exhaust was amazing - espciailly when it opened up the gates at 3500rpm.

I believe GM announced that the C7 is going to have an updated and friendlier interior since they have got so many complaints from the C5 and C6 generation.

Good point as that would definitely make it lighter! I wonder how that aluminum-alloy compares with steel as far as strength goes?
