Default 2011 S4 Clutch CLick and Creak

Have had the S4 2011 MT6 for a few months. Great for 500 miles. Then started to have clutch click which was getting worse. Brought to dealer in Dublin Ohio who followed Audi's instruction to change "pin". Was great for 1000 miles and problem recurred. Brought it in to dealer again and applied different grease. New grease did not help. Also noticed that if I left car outdoors in hot temp the clutch creaks badly. These noises come and go depending on outside temp and usage. The dealer told me that there is nothing else to do as Audi has not come with official solution. Called Audi America customer care. Talked to an ignorant woman that sounded more like a social worker rather than a car specialist. She got back to me within a few days to say that she contacted the dealer who told her that this is the way that the car is supposed to operate. Told her that she wasted my time and that the response was completely inappropriate. VERY disappointed with Audi as this has been an ongoing issue that they have not addressed. The dealer was telling me that as long as the car operates well mechanically it is not a big deal. I find that response also very inappropriate...Any suggestions?

I believe there is a 12k mile warranty to cover vibrations, creaks, rattles, fit and finish, etc. You could try bringing that up. I agree it shouldn't be creaking, though. Changing the pin out solved the problem on mine. Let me also add that I've found that sometimes that "creak" is caused by the rubber of your shoe soles against the rubber of the pedal, so be sure that isn't the case.

Did you also have creaking?

I only have the clutch click and its rather obnoxious at times, but I don't have creaking. I do get the vibration when shifting at high rpm's. Was planning on bringing all of this up at the dealer when I hit 2.5k miles but it sounds like it might be a lost cause according to OP.

Your clutch click went away after the pin change? Do you also still have vibrations when shifting above 6k rpm?

I dont have any noteable vibrations, but I do get more through the shifter since switching to the JHM due to the elimination of all the plastic in the stock shifter. Not a bad thing, though. I did have some creaking during colder weather but the pin replacement foxed that issue.

I think it operates normally with a little click and creak here and there. mst clutches have creak outside the car. Click is a lil annoying but I found that if my AC is on the footwell area the click goes away lol I think its the grease. lol you all know the pin change is just that pin in the linkage lol. Be careful I had 2 of those replaced. First one was defective and when i was driving it cracked and my pedal went all the way to the top lol touching the steerng column

Wow that sounds dangerous, the car was still driveable?

sounds like the pin replacement works for some but not others, I will go and try the footwell AC and see.

The creak has nothing to do with the shoe. It is a mechanical clutch issue. Audi service admitted that this was a common problem for Audi S4 MT6 as well as S5. He said that Audi did not care enough to fix it as it does not cause real mechanical problems. I wonder if the 2012 model which is supposed to come out in Dec is going to have the same issues or maybe Audi cares enough to fix it. I now regret not getting the triptonic which is a very good transmission. Would have saved me all of this heartache. In addition to the above I've already had a flat tire and a rock hit my hood and windshield but that has nothing to do with Audi...

Tried the AC on in the foot-well and the click persisted. Looks like I'll be looking to get a new pin when I bring it in for the first oil change at 2.5k miles.

I had the same issue, showed up when the weather started to get warm. Really annoying, especially in stop and go traffic.

Went to the dealer twice, first time they replaced the pin, it fixed it for 2 miles, then came back as i left the dealer. Second time they replaced the same pin again but lubed it up A LOT (according to them) and seems to have taken care of the issue. It seems it gets worse when it is warmer. So far mine hasn't come back (knock on wood).

So i think it is a matter of replacing the pin and lubing it up that does the trick.
