Went in for my 8,000km service today and mentioned to the SA that the coolant level had dropped under minimum a couple of mo's after purchase - I had to add some coolant. Asked whether there is a possible issue since the 2011's supposedly have the new aluminum water pump. SA said everything was probably 'ok' but would pressure test anyways just to be safe. They called me this afternoon to tell me they replaced the water pump and that I had one of the faulty plastic water pumps. What gives? I thought this was fixed in all 2011's?

I thought this was fixed as well. I have an S4 on order and will be getting it in March. I live in Toronto so I'm slightly concerned.... manufacturing different for Canadian cars? I know our models are slightly different.

I am not all that mechanical when it comes to automobiles (but love them nonetheless). Can someone explain where one would look to see which water pump they have? I can't tell from this picture where to look.

I don't think you should worry if you car has not been built yet. Audi is well aware of the problem. Not likely that you will get a plastic WP.
