You can check yourself. Just open the hood and look. Someone posted pictures. All you can see is the edge of the pump housing but that is enought to tell.

09/10 production on my 2011- aluminum pump in there

Went into the dealership today and they told me all 2011's should be coming with an aluminum pump because they know of the issue. I was told if it didn't they would replace it on the spot for me. "It's a known flaw"

Based on the picture, mine is aluminum (2011 model). How do you determine the build date?

Look inside the drivers door jamb, near the bottom. Also, stamped inside the one of the manuals (service manual?) that came with your car and inside the spare tire wheel well.

I just tapped on my waterpump to make sure it's aluminum!

My water pump just blew as I got in the garage. They will be towing my car to the dealership tomorrow. Spoke the GM of the dealership and they have the part. They said if they couldn't do it tomorrow they would give me a loaner car.
