Default 2012 S4 Configuration w/Stasis Touring

After extensive deliberation I have decided on a 2012 S4 in the following configuration:

- Phantom Black Pearl Effect
- Manual transmission
- Black and silver alcantara seats
- Sports differential
- Stainless steel inserts
- Stasis Touring package

I was originally going to get the Titanium package w/Stasis chip and exhaust but then decided that with the black paint, I wasn't sure if I wanted to do the Titanium package also - plus I decided that I preferred the look of the Stasis Touring wheels.

So, I was wondering if anyone has had the full Stasis Touring package installed? Any positive/negative feedback before I place my order?

I currently drive a 2008 RS4 cabriolet with a lease-end in December so I probably won't place my order for the S4 until next month.

My biggest debate was around finding a car that was close in performance and style of the RS4 but I still wanted a manual transmission. The S4 w/Stasis seems to fit the bill.

Most here would definitely advise against the Stasis exhaust. Otherwise, seems like a pretty good package but I think you can do better buying parts elsewhere. IMO, the only thing that is likely to have any effect on your warranty in the package is the tune.

My car has the STaSIS Touring suspension and ECU flash. I'm a fan of both. The lowered suspension really helps with the car's stance and flattens out the cornering, and the extra power from the ECU flash is readily apparent. It gives the car the powerband that it probably should have had from the beginning, eliminating the flattening out of the power curve at the top end that's a part of the stock tuning.

I haven't heard the STaSIS exhaust, but several have complained about drone. Allegedly this has been rectified with the latest version. STaSIS's 20" wheels sure are purty, and aren't overly heavy at about 27 lbs each, so if you like 'em, go for it.

There have been innumerable posts here, on QW and on AZ about the relative merits of STaSIS's solution vs. buying components from several suppliers. The fact remains, though, that if you want a warranty on your aftermarket components, STaSIS has the only solution for North American customers.

Have you had silver alcantara before? Just because I have seen first hand that it can get a bit more dirty than other colors over time. I still think alcantara is great and you could clean it no problem but it just shows the dirt more than blue or black since it is really more white than silver.

Otherwise good luck and congrats.

I'm a new member and have only read a few posts related to the Stasis exhaust which is why I was asking. One of my constraints is that I'll be leasing my car so ideally, I'd prefer to have all costs rolled into the lease and under warranty. Unless the exhaust is super obnoxious or degrades the performance, I'm probably willing to give it a shot. Luckily I still have another month before I have to make my decision.

My husband is still trying to convince me to get a Porsche Cayenne after he traded his in on a 911 Carrera S. I used to drive SUVs when my kids were younger and I used to ski but now I really just want a small sports car and he doesn't understand that although the Cayenne is sporty, it's still an SUV with a totally different stance, larger vehicle, etc.

I'll do some more reading on the Stasis exhaust. Thanks for your input!

My RS4 has all leather seats and I haven't tried alcantara yet though I like the contrast in color. I was concerned about the seats getting stained/dirty. Hmm - maybe they'll have other options for 2012?

No extra options for 2012 that I've seen.
Standard is Black alcantara (my preference).
Black leather with silver alcantara as discussed.
Black leather with red leather inserts. (Not shown on audiusa website.)
Or you can get silk nappa which is all leather seats..no alcantara. (Although this does not seem to be on the Audiusa website either.) I'm not sure if this is black only, or if you can get all silver silk nappa.

I agree the contrast looks nice, but I know from seeing others that it did get dirty. As I said it can be cleaned, but I had blue in my B5 and it never looked dirty in 7 years.

Odd - when I first configured the S4 about a month ago, the silk nappa leather was still offered as an option. I was considering the brown/black combo but wasn't sure if I liked it or not.

If the silver/black combo is offered in the silk nappa leather I think I'll go with that, or the all black alcantara.

Does anyone know when they'll start showing the 2012 options on the Audi website?

I only noticed the 2012 S4 configurator on the AudiUSA website this month. However Audi's website is notoriously known for being incorrect.

The info I provided is from the official order guide last updated mid June.

Not sure when the Stasis exhaust was "upgraded" to avoid the drone. I have a 2011 S4 that had the Stasis Touring package put on in october of this year (car bough 08/2010), the exhaust is kinda loud in the cabin. Of course I am used to it now, but people who ride in the back comment the first time in the car. I have no other aftermarket exhausts on which to base my comparison though. Love the package otherwise. Stasis website claims the touring exhaust has "tunable low RPM resonators", well in 7th gear on the highway its at something shy over 2k RPM's and thats where you get a bit of drone. Been searching for info on these "tunable resonators" but come up short.

The local Audi dealer did the stasis work/install and sold the car originally (purchased this car from a gentleman in the area in May), and is familiar with the car since its also doing the audicare service.

I have sports diff and full ADS option, supposedly with the progressive rate springs in the Touring Stasis deal the Drive select still more or less functions, but I have nothing to compare it with. It is a mean driving machine I can tell you that.

the 255/30R20 wheels are reasonably thin, you will feel a lot more in this car. Leaving my underground parking at my Condo I have to be careful not to scrape, but that is second nature now.

Just some tips/experiences I've had with the touring package.
