Default 35 or 45mm Wheel offset on 18x8.5

I'm thinking of getting some VMR 710s for my winter setup, 18x8.5. They come in 35 and 45mm offsets.

The 35mm would cause the wheel to extend 8mm more than my stock 19x8.5 setup, being more likely to chuck rocks and salt all over the side of the car in the winter. The 45mm offset would be nearly the same as the 19" stock setup, except the wheel would move in by 2mm. Anyone running a 8.5" wide wheel with a 45mm offset? Technically there is 2mm less between the wheel and the suspension components, so I'm not sure if they would fit or rub.

ET45 won't rub, but, make sure it will clear brakes. I know that VMR makes ET38 on some wheels.

I run the 18x8.5 ET35's with 255 tires. Works fine.

you could always run spacers with ET45 to clear.

8.5 et45 is going to get pretty close. I'd second what Bruce suggested and possibly go with spacers if you were concerned with just sticking to the et35.

Hi have VMR 710s in 18s with 35mm offset on 245 winters.

Absolutely no issues. Offset looks wicked and nicely flush.

You can play it safe and clean and go with the 45mm but you are going to wish you went 35mm every time you look at your car.

Do you get any issues with the et35 kicking up salt/mud onto the car over the winter?

When you say "works fine", are you referring to the sand/salt being thrown on the side of the car?

rkskicar - I like the look of your car in your signature, so I am getting a good feel for what mine will look like. Do you have a link or a PM to a higher resolution/larger picture?

It didn't seem excessive by any means.

With a black car and a crappy Canadian winter...10mm of offset hardly makes it any cleaner.
