Thanks for all the helpful replies, guys! This mainly came up because I am already stretching my budget to get into an S4. It was going to be a compromise between ADS and my #1 color choice (Estoril). But given it's a $50k+ car, what's another grand? I'm going for it and not settle!
I live in the SF Bay Area, so plenty of bad roads here. The dealer gave me an S4 loaner a couple months ago. That's how I got caught up in it. I didn't play with the settings so don't even know if it had ADS or not. But it handled great and road smoother than my TL. I'm definitely looking for the spirited driving experience.
So a stock non-ADS S4 = ADS Dynamic setting?

I think you will find from folks with the ADS that the dynamic setting is much tighter than the stock no ads setting. Most drive in this setting as it alters roll and firms up everything then change to comfort for cruising/bad roads.

So stock non-ADS is somewhere between ADS' comfort and dynamic settings?

I would say get the ADS. I live in NYC and the roads are horrible. I regret not get the adjustable suspension, and now I have to think about expensive options in order to have that adjustability. As a$1000 option its worth it.
