I recently got my s4 with alcantara and I love it. It's very unique for cars and has a great look and feel.

When you look at 10 year old cars with alcantara vs leather the alcantara looks almost new, 9 times out of 10 the leather has lost its nice matte finsih and looks old and tired.

Even looking at 3 year old cars at Audi the other day, the leather all looked had it on the drivers side, especially the bolsters.

Leather is great if you treat it properly every 3 months, but most people don't.

Alcantara and carbon works well and looks right for a car wearing an S badge.

My own .02 is that Alcantra looks cheap and tacky in a $50K+ automobile.

I have seen alcantara/suede on 80k Nissan GTRs and Maserati's.
So it seems that it is offered for better grip.
It is interesting how some members have noticed that it seems to stay new longer than some leathers.
I have seen major complaints from infiniti owners and others about their leather seats looking old in a hurry.
It seems that alcantara is considered more sporty and can work on the S4. And I think it is a much better standard material than leatherette.

I have the alcantara/suede on my Dodge truck. It seems to fit there but I would prefer the full leather. I love the full leather on my S4.

The S8 has alcantara headliner... just saying

very much "each their own"

Like the look of leather but the alcantara wears better. I got the leather because that comes in two tone which sets off the interior very nicely and gives it another step of class IMO.

I dunno if you can really make a wrong choice here. I love my alcantara, but I do get a slight bit jealous when I see the black/magma seats sometimes

If you do go with full leather just make sure you clean and condition them... I imagine that will help keep them soft and supple for many years to come.

Life is rough when you have to make decisions such as this
