All this love for alcantra makes me question my red/black nappa.
I just could not resist the 'punchy' red. If they had red alcantra, I would've gone for it though. Glad you guys are loving your seats!

Same here, and I know another member had the same problem. What's up with Audi? It sounds like they are making some pretty unfortunate mistakes on the assembly line.

Regardless, I also adore the alcantara. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Default So is alcantara real leather?

The problem with the Nappa leather is the stitching which belongs on denim or a baseball, not on an automotive interior. At least the nappa leather should be easy to clean.

To each his own, but the contrasting stitching looks 1000% better IMO. That's why you see it on many high end luxury cars and exotics.

I'm curious how many people would choose leather over alcantara if it was a no charge option. Black/Silver alcantara would get dirty and transfer dye from denim, and in the all black leather/alcantara combo, the alcantara is not the same shade of black as the leather. I also don't like the sticky and absorbent feeling of alcantara, and the fact that it does not reflect light as leather thus hiding contours of the beautiful S4 seats.

I'd prefer the nappa silk leather if at no cost. But not for $1000.

I love the Alcantara. The texure difference between the leather and Alcantara really stands out and the grip is amazing. It's one of the first things people notice when they get in the car and they're always impressed. My wife originally wanted Silk Nappa for the more "luxurious" feel, but now she really likes the Alcantara.

Also, the Alcantara really is a lot cooler in the summer! My car is black on black, and even in this recent heat wave and paking in the sun, the seats were impressively cool to the touch! I can get in right away without having to let the seats cool like I do in regular leather.

I do really like the contrast stitching on the Silk Nappa, though, and I wished the Alcantara had it, too.

I happen to like the contrasting stitching quite a bit

Anyone have the black/silver(white) leather and can comment on the summer temperatures. I would think the white color would keep the seats a little cooler. I'm not that concerned about winter since there's seat warmers.

Also - how does the alcantara hold up to moisture compared to the leather? I'm concerned a bit about the drive home after skiing.

I know Audi offers a protectent for ~$500 on the leather, is there something similar for alcantara?
