Thanks for sharing your MPG with us -- much appreciated! I wondered how the S4's MPG would be if you drive it conservatively, but now I have this info. Thanks again.

I didn't see if anyone addressed the fact the the actual trip computer MPG in the S4 is probably 4 MPG optimistic. Unless you calculated by hand to confirm your numbers are more than likely off. If you confirmed by hand and got 29-30 MPG or better than I am extremely jealous. DSG guys do report better because of the taller OD gear so I will buy that. I can't get better than 23 MPG HWY in this thing and 20-21 combined with casual driving combination City/HWY...that said...who cares because I love this car!

Agree on trip computer error. My calculations are by hand.

I manually measure MPG with every fillup and can confirm the trip computer is consistently showing an MPG at least 1 MPG better than reality and sometimes more than 3 MPG better than actual. Someone else told me it can be recalibrated with Vag com. I saw the same issue with my previous A6 and my wife's Q5.

I have a DSG and get about 23 MPG overall, 80% of which is highway. I have tried varying driving styles and find my "normal" driving with minimal traffic gets me about 22-23 MPG overall, worse with traffic. Interestingly, I couldn't get more than 25 MPG even when driving what I considered to be very conservatively. So, my MPG "penalty" for driving the way I want is only about 2 MPG. I know these aren't 29 MPG territory, but I think the S4 does very well on MPG. I just wish the gas tank was a little bigger to squeeze a little more range out of each tank.
