Default Any B8 S4 owners tempted by the RS5?

Just read Audiworld's write-up on the new RS5, and I still think it looks like an amazing car. So much so that I may just be tempted when it comes stateside.

I know a lot of folks here have been down on the RS5 (NA engine, lack of significant power gains over the S4, etc.). But I'm a sucker for V8s, what can I say?

Lose the tunability of a FI engine, lose 2 doors, get a less fuel efficient, heavier engine, and slower overall vehicle for a substantially increased price.

So tempted...

I'm not, simply because a traditional stick is still a requirement for me.

At that price point, I would personally gratify my irrational need for a CPO'd C4S...which I may do anyway. But I can't justify the sacrifices mentioned previously for the RS5.

Not in the least. The 4.2 is on its way out, and the 3.0 can be made just as powerful with ease. Audi also went a bit too "look at me" on some of the styling cues. Not to mention it pretty consistently places dead last when compared to similar cars from other companies.

Really?? I was unaware that S-Tronic is the only trans option for the RS5. That's surprising.

Yes. Serious drawback for me.

I have to have 4-doors, at least for the car the RS5 would be (daily driver).

I'd buy a used RS4 before I'd get an RS5. It is a goooood looking car though, no doubt about that.

It is a FANTASTIC looking car. I'd also opt for an RS4 first, but it could be several years before we see the new model.
